Reasons to Stay in Hong Kong: 003

The last reason that I wanted to stay in Hong Kong is after watching A Simple Life (2011). A low budget film that swept in Venice Film Fest, Hong Kong Film Awards and many more other competitions.

Andy Lau, one of the most dedicated Hong Kong film personel produced and acted in the film. Despite great losses previously with other films he has invested he continues to support Hong Kong filmmaking. Other people such as Nicholas Tse has reinvested in to producing quality Hong Kong films. There is a strong pride and support in Hong Kong filmmaking. There's numerous passionate filmmakers in Hong Kong and I hope I can be part of this society and the movement to push Hong Kong film to the top.

Adding with the other two reasons I posted earlier I have a strong believe that Hong Kong film is going to revamp and be influential like it once did with martial art action movies and cultural styled films. There's many talented film directors and I hope I can be on the field and learn a thing or two from them.

Poetry with Beats

"Hip-hop is a masterpiece, but nobody painted it all"

It's a documentary trying to understand the culture of rap and the people who help shape the genre today. This is a must watch for those who are into music and culture.

Pure Basketball

Most of you know, I'm a huge basketball fan.

I'm pretty sure I've seen 500 or more basketball videos in my life and this is most definitely one of the most well made basketball video I've seen.

Time-lapse, dolly shots, aerial shots, graphic fonts, etc.

Everything is well made with a nice true hardcore basketball culture.

Pick-up games at NYC.

Kids, please don't try this at home. Seriously

What has a man in our age has to be? What are our requirements?

This documentary can break it down for you, I hope.

Enough of "Step Up"

I seriously don't like the repetitive storyline of step up going to the three dance stages and ending in the epic dance battle.

I came across this documentary, this to me is a real life journey of people battling through their passion.

They currently need donations to help with their editing and other costs in their final production. Please help out if you can cause this already looks way better than the "Step Up" flicks I've seen.

Prometheus

As a media student my friends has always been asking me "What movie is good these days?". Most of the times I seriously don't know because there are just so many films pushing out there on a weekly/monthly basis and most of them are just rubbish.

I mean films are films and they require an abundance amount of effort but when you ask me about a good film that I would recommend you, I would recommend something that you will watch and say "That was one of the best movies I've watch in cinema." Which explains why I hardly recommend any films to anyone to watch in cinemas.

This is one of the films I recommend to watch in 2012.

Prometheus.

Directed by Ridley Scott.

Toy Story Short

I just found out that there's a short film after Toy Story 3 and it's about Ken & Barbie!!! This is only a glimpse of it though if you want to watch it I think you have to buy the DVD or go to watch a Pixar in a cinema and they should play it before screening the feature.

When I was searching for this video I also found out that Toy Story 4 might be coming out at the end of this year!!! I hope that would not disappoint because Toy Story 3 wrapped up perfectly.

I am Bruce Lee

At first when I saw this video I was hyped up because Bruce Lee is just a legendary icon with speed, strength, discipline, wealth, knowledge, philosophy, technique, fame, power all packed into one. I was like yeah lets embrace this past inspiration of ours once again.

Then after this trailer, after reading comments I though... All those footages about Bruce Lee can be found on Youtube anyway..I don't need to hear other celebrities telling me how great he is cause I know he is!!!

So... I don't really see the point of this film now...

Pina 2011 Trailer

I'm not very familiar with modern dance so I can not comment much but this film is stunning .

All I know is that Pina Bausch (1940-2009) was a very influential modern dancer.

Enjoy.

Moonrise Kingdom

Mr. Wes Anderson is always making films that is out of the mainstream movie genres or blockbusters.

His films is awkward and it doesn't strike people's emotions as systematically as other films you see. It is very intriguing because you don't normally experience a film like his.

Martin Scorsese labeled him as "The Next Martin Scorsese" and have regarded him very highly.

This is definitely one of the films to watch in 2012.

Back in Men

MiB is black on the block baby!!!

One of the influential pop culture movies of our time is back.

By the looks of the trailer it doesn't feel right, it doesn't have the same aesthetics as the original nor the sequel.

The quality of the images though is greatly improved. The pictures are so defined that it doesn't link me back to the old Men in Black.

Is it still a must see in cinema? I have to say... yes but I might be disappointed.

God of Sushi

A documentary about the man whose on the peak of the art of sushi and still climbing.

His sushi presentation looks very mouth watering already. Unfortunately I didn't visit this place when I was in Tokyo. I hope some of you who might visit will go there to check it out.

Rollerbalding

Remember the old days where people Rollerblade by the beach listening to their cassette tapes?

I don't think any of us lived in that era... anyway

I think I've posted way too much skateboard videos so I'll post a Rollerblade video now.

It's got tilt-shift & time lapsing techniques which is pretty awesome.

Enjoy

Emerging Actor

Mr. Michael Fassbender

He has been in a lot of great films in these past years and I predict he is soon to be one of the best actors in the industry. He has starred in 300 , Inglourious BasterdsX-Men: First Class

This is his upcoming next film: Shame

This film will be viewable in Sydney on 9th February 2012. I'm excited.

Skate Film

A lot of the skate videos you see on YouTube, Vimeo... etc is made by skaters. All filmed just to purely show off the sick tricks they pull off and show you some of their "cool lifestyle" and stuff them all in like a 4min mix tape of hardcore skating.

Watch this trailer to feel the difference of professional film makers.

50 drama 50 comedy

Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Seth Rogen, two of the new generation actors pair up for this movie 50/50 about a young man diagnosed with cancer.

Looks good! At least better than Joseph's other film.

Finally finally finally they produce a decent realistic film about basketball.
